Our Brief History
Preservation Bath began in 2011 as Friends of the Pools, a small group of concerned citizens who came together to save the historic Warm Springs Pools. Deeply valued for their central place in Bath County’s history — and as a peaceful retreat where generations have come to enjoy the “waters” — the Bath Houses were in need of care. Concerned about their structural integrity, we organized to protect and restore these extraordinary landmarks.
In 2012, we incorporated as Preservation Bath in the Commonwealth of Virginia and, in 2014, were granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. In 2022, we celebrated the successful restoration of the Warm Springs Pools — a milestone made possible by the dedication of many partners and supporters.
Today, Preservation Bath works to preserve and revitalize historic properties throughout Bath County. We are committed to protecting the County’s architectural and cultural heritage and to ensuring that its historic places remain meaningful, vibrant parts of community life for generations to come.
