Accomplishments
Since its founding, Preservation Bath has worked to protect and strengthen the historic and cultural resources that define Bath County’s character. Through research, advocacy, partnerships, and direct investment, we have supported projects that document, restore, interpret, and celebrate the County’s built heritage. The following highlights reflect our ongoing commitment to ensuring that historic places remain vibrant, meaningful parts of community life.
Established the Annual Lecture and Awards to recognize achievements in historic restoration.
We nominated the Gibson Cottage for Preservation Virginia’s’ most endangered List.
We participated in drafting new language related to preservation for Bath County’s Comprehensive Plan.
We wrote Design Guidelines as requested yesterday the Planning Commission and subsequently adopted by the Board of Supervisors.
We secured the Cost Share grant for the Warm Springs/West Warm Springs Historic District.
Preservation Bath commissioned the Warm Springs/West Warm Springs tour brochure and the installation of interpretive waysides throughout the District.
We assisted in the implementation and relocating of the Terrill Hill and William Sheppard highway markers to more suitable locations in Warm Springs.
We funded and secured DHR and VDOT approval for the installation of three new highway markers in the Warm Springs/West Warm Springs district.
We helped advocate for the preservation of Siloam Baptist Church in Millboro.
We partnered with Bath County government and the Economic Development Authority to fund and implement Cost Share historic district surveys for the village of Bacova and for Hot Springs.
We funded the National Register Nomination for the Ingalls Field historic airport terminal and airfield.
We are supporting the initiative to create the Museum of West Warm Springs and Meeting House through the restoration of the John Wesley ME Church in West Warm Springs
